We've known about this (and the manual) for over a year. It is still in beta testing, so anyone who has used one isn't allowed to talk about it yet.

per the manual no one can use it

"The C71KW is the new AT&T/DIRECTV Wireless 4K OTT Client. This
C71KW client cannot be used with the existing Genie Servers (HR34-54 and
    HS17).
The VRC81 is the new Voice controlled AT&T/DIRECTV Remote. This
remote can be used with the C71KW and the future HS27.
There are several model numbers in C71KW series, like C71KW, C71KW-
400 and C71KWBP-400. C71KW will be used to represent C71KW-400,
    C71KWBP-400 in this document."

The unit has been in public testing for over 4 months. They sent it to a crapload of directvnow users

Pretty much anyone with directvnow could have signed up for the beta

They even changed the remote 2 months in

You can pick one up on E-bay directv osprey | eBay

You can also talk about it on AVS, it's not a real active thread but it's there. https://www.avsforum.com/forum/184-v...aming-box.html

I does not look as if this group of testers was held to the same set of standards as we have seen in the past.
When did people begin to forget how to use then and than ? I guess it may have been about the time that they forgot gh is silent. The word is though, not thou.

hmmm well if you are going to keep making comments with no substance to bring your post count up and not actually contribute I am sure you can create a thread and do just that.. If you actually have something of substance to prove there is a different generation device then please contribute. As Stated there has been MULTIPLE versions of the C71KW given to Directvnow beta testers. Also multiple remotes There also has been no FCC documents that would indicate a changed device, as they would have to file one if they changed anything with the wireless and gave it out.. Regardless if it was under some cloak testing.. now could there be some people testing the box for a different function sure. But this box isn’t some big secret

I'm talking about the people testing it with the new 'Directv via IP' service. It isn't intended for Directv Now, that's a separate test presumably designed to get more hands on it since the Directv via IP test is probably pretty small.

Right but it is the same boxes they are using for the directvnow test There is no mystery C71 floating out there we don’t know about

True, but they may not work exactly the same way with the different service.
