Angry AT&T Contract with Disney owned stations is up

Bloomberg - Are you a robot?
ESPN, ABC, and other Disney-owned channels could be pulled from DirecTV, U-Verse, and other ATT platforms as early as Friday night

Some say end of September and the 2nd link says FRIDAY 13th.

His is going to be terrible if they go off the air.

Live sports are one of the main reasons people still have Directv. Take that away (most of college football in the south) and people will leave throughout the southern states.

But with ESPN crying how they lost 7 million subs a couple of years ago, they can't take another hit. But unfortunately you probably are correct. These content providers have most people hooked like it was a drug. And that is where the problem lays.

I figure Disney alone is 20% or so of most subs bill? I watch a tremendous amount of sports, if I'm not going to a live game, but if ESPN goes dark I won't complain. I hope AT&T stays tough with Disney.

So I was reading this article and the sub line says "This is taking petty to the next level." While it mentions the Viacom dispute apparently the editor doesn't know how "petty" AT&T is willing to go when blocking out these kind of messages.

Again, I hope the cable and satellite companies stick it to Disney.

Someone posted this article at the other place but it appears that AT&T and Disney are doing the back and forth dance that AT&T and Viacom did. Fingers crossed this leads to a deal.

Looks like they agreed to a deal to keep it on until 9AM and then another one for X time. Looks like they both need it on. ESPN needs to cut all the talking heads and cut back on the amount they pay to leagues. Viewership is going down and their costs are too high. I don't watch them except for games because they tried to get into other things than broadcasting and reporting on sports.
