Looks like D15 is on the move.

Yes, it definitely is! I noticed D15 was a little west of it's station keeping box this morning. It now looks like it is moving more quickly to the west. N2YO shows it at 100.99 and accelerating westward.

This morning, at 8:15 EDT, the N2YO prediction from the TLEs shows D15 at 102.75 W, 0.04S. still moving West. It is slightly to the south of D10, and 13 miles higher, still drifting westward. They will probably let it get slightly to the west of its licensed location of 102.85 before initiating the transfer orbit firings to get it down to geosynchronous altititude. I'm no expert in orbital mechanics, but I would expect the first transfer orbit burn sometime in the next 24 hours.

We're waiting for fresh TLE orbital data. Based on the last data, from whiie DirecTV 15 was in its drift orbit, it would be at 103.00 degrees W this morning. Since it is heading to 102.85, it should have had a transfer orbit burn overnight, or very soon now.

New TLE data is in for DirecTV 15. It is currently at 102.84, in an orbit that swings north and south too much. I haven't analyzed the data any more than that yet.

That was a neat parking job! In Geosynchronous orbit, with an eccentricity of 0.0000415. It appears that the North/South excursions are still within its box. D15 is home!

I imagine someone at some old satellite company like Hughes wrote a program decades ago that let you input the starting and desired ending location, the specific impulse of the satellite's thrusters, its mass, and other relevant info and it spits out optimal instructions for exactly when to start to a burn, for how long, etc. to complete these maneuvers.

I revised my post. It is within it's box.

I wonder if it will be this week... or next... I’m not anxious for that at all, I swear. I’d bet the other stars channels come online soon afterward it lights up.
