When I collected the data on Saturday morning, they had not yet finished with the changes for the SONIC channels for Puerto Rico. The Spot beam transponder TID 18 on D14 is vacant as of this morning, and there are no SONIC or MC channels on SW1. I count 16 Puerto Rican SD channels on SW1 that do not have placeholder entries on D5, and they have D14 TID 18 unused.

SW1 may go out of service very soon.

DirecTV Satellite Transponder Updates for Feb 14 2018

Newly updated tables of channels on each transponder are available in the DataDigesters TPN Grids

Comparison of Transponder Data for Feb 14 2018 vs Feb 07 2018:

No changes in system tables for any transponder tuning parameters.

Changes to the use of defined transponders:
    3 Transponders removed from service:
    Net 10 TID 8 was a National Transponder on D14 (99ca), TPN 9 Beam NAT+PR
    Net 10 TID 9 was a National Transponder on D14 (99ca), TPN 10 Beam NAT+PR
    Net 11 TID 18 was a Spot Beam Transponder on D14 (99s), TPN 3 Beam B24

    Channel (PID) counts:

    Channels (PIDs) National Spot Beam
    Count Change Count Change
    4K Live 2
    HD Live 248 1361 1
    SD MPEG4 Live 10 196 -28
    SD MPEG2 Live 414 975
    3D 1
    Audio 89 12 1

    4K Test Only 1
    HD Test Only 28 1 2 1
    SD MPEG4 Test 3 3 3
    SD MPEG2 Test 1 19

The PID count Excel workbook provides much more detail.

More details of changes in individual channels will follow in gct's Domestic TPN MAP and Weekly Analysis excel files later.
    A good bit of reshuffling.
2 D14 TPNs 'cleared' of channels , we believe in preparation of final transfer of SW1 and ? Sat110 shifts
More changes maybe tomorrow, will keep a close check on events and report if significant movement

The above posting of the PID counts is correct, I think. However the change numbers are messed up. A change to the way DTV identifies audio channels, has forced a software change for our analysis, and I haven't got something right. There is confusion between SD channels and audio channels that has to be sorted out.

Did this happen with the changeover to MC?

They really didn't change anything other than the audio channel names. Unfortunately, that is what I was keying on. It turns out to be a bit inaccurate. I had to scramble after Saturday morning to figure out another method. I wrote the classification routine over two years ago, when we were far more interested in getting SD vs. HD right. I am now using a much better method for audio based on PID value, but I didn't include the A3 audio PIDs. The revised software was not sufficiently tested. We have not been distinguishing test vs. live audio channels, which complicates the problem. I am revisiting classification categories in general, while I am at it. The biggest problem is formatting the pidcount.xlsx spreadsheet with more categories.

Prior to the change from Sonic Tap to Music Choice, I have been counting 4 audio only channels on Net 1 (95W) as DSS (mpeg2) SD live channels, and the 11 Audio test channels on D5 as DSS SD Test channels. The post that Doctor J provided on 2/14 used my flawed attempt to correct that. I believe that I have resolved the problem going forward, and have provided Doctor J with updated and tested software. The following is the chart that should have appeared on February 14th:

DirecTV Satellite Transponder Updates for Feb 14 2018

    Channel (PID) counts:

    Channels (PIDs) National Spot Beam
    Count Change Count Change

    Audio Live 89 12 -18

    HD Test Only 28 1 2 1
    A3 SD Test 3 3 3
    DSS SD Test 1 19
    Audio Test -11

The PID count Excel workbook provides much more detail.
