    Understanding the Domestic TPN Map

There are five tabs at the bottom of the Domestic Excel

    • NATIONAL all 50-States channels, grouping first 4K, then HD, then SD channels in channel number sequence
    • LOCAL all Local-Into-Local channels in DMA Market Name sequence, grouping first HD, then SD channels in channel number sequence
    • OTA the Directv supported database of Over-The-Air channels in DMA Market Name then channel number sequence. The OTA database was not expanded from November, 2009 to May, 2018. Then, beginning 5/23/18, new records have been periodically added.
    • Hybrid includes Offline, Work Records and Test records for National, Local, 'Push' and On-Demand channels. Each grouping is in channel number sequence. A large number of part-time, seasonal, RSN Alternate and ‘Game-Only’ sports channels appear in this tab since they are typically Offline at the time of day the TPN Map is assembled
    • Domestic Network Decoder illustrates satellites and their TPN's graphically to explain the receiver's signal strength presentation

    • Sur all channels in Network 3, Sur, grouping first MPEG4 then MPEG2 channels in channel number sequence
    • Norte all channels in Network 4, Norte, grouping first MPEG4 then MPEG2 channels in channel number sequence
    • OTA the Directv supported database of Over-The-Air channels in Regional Market Name then channel number sequence

    SHEF Commands

SHEF - STB HTTP Exported Functionality

The function of the SHEF interface is to accept HTTP
requests from web applications, process them and return
any data or status responses that result from that request.

With your Receiver connected to your local IP Network:

Step 1: in your browser enter the following command to set the DVR to a channel of interest
    http://<ipaddr>:8080/tv/tune?major=<n>&minor=65535
where <ipaddr> is the IP address of your DVR
where <n> is the decimal channel number

Step 2: in your browser enter the following command to output the parameters of the channel queried in step 1
    http://<ipaddr>:8080/serial/processCommand?cmd=FA83
where <ipaddr> is the IP address of your DVR

***EDIT 9/1/2017: It appears that effective with HS17 server, the SHEF interface is no longer supported***

The DIRECTV Manuals below explain the Hex response data

    DTV-MD-0359: SHEF Command Set

    DTV-MD-0058: Installer Manual

    Weekly Update 8/17/2016

    For this week: Nothing.

It has been several years, literally, since the activity level has been at this low a level.

Even the nominal, not-worth-mentioning 'churn' has almost completely halted.

No progress was made on the LIL MPEG4/SD notation
